“The Centennial Light is the world's longest-lasting light bulb, burning since 1901.” Wikipedia Would you like a light-bulb like that? Have you heard of this light? Why don't light bulbs last as long anymore? Is it because of planned obsolescence which is that when we make a product we make it so that it has a predetermined lifespan? What does God say about his word? Psalm 119:105 (KJV) Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (God's word, the Bible, was written so that it will eternally light up our way) Jesus said in Matthew 5:14 (KJV) 14 Ye are the light of the world. (Do we easily burn out or will we keep on shining?) Have we seen the light? Will we let our light shine brightly?

It's good to see the light, all kinds of lights. I wouldn't want to live in the dark. I'm not a bat!

You reminded me a song of Johnny Cash "I saw the light, I saw the light, no more the darkness...". I have not seen the centennial I have seen the first one created by Thomas Edison.

Yes, we need to find and then let it shine for all the world to see so that glory and praise goes to our Heavenly Father.

I think there is a good reasons to make something with a predetermined lifespan. That is an interesting light bulb. I wonder who is responsible for dusty it off. Have you ever washed a light bulb in the kitchen sink? I have.

What good reason do you think there could be? No, I have never needed to wash my light bulbs.

@mynameiskate We produce a lot of waste and it pollutes the planet.

@1hopefulman Now I see where you were going with this. Yes this makes perfect sense and I agree with you. Finding ways to recycle, making products that last, changing our life style and maintaining a reasonable population for a modern world would all help in keeping our planet healthy.

@buenavida Yes! Everyone can benefit as God loves us all. 1 Peter 1:25 (KJV) But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

It is interesting that we can make things that last a long time but now we are making things that need to be replaced as soon as we buy them.

If we're followers of Jesus Christ, we must always let our light shine to show the right path for others to follow.

@1hopefulman We can try to live as Jesus taught us to by loving our neighbor as ourselves, proclaiming the Gospel wherever we can, and living as Christ-like as we can. We all still make mistakes, but that's when we ask for forgiveness from God.

@1creekgirl Good suggestions! Not one of us can do things perfectly but we can continue to do the best we can. Jesus is the way and we can our best to follow his footsteps.
