Ordering items to close to when you need them for?

Ordering items to close to when you need them for? Hello everyone, how are you doing, hoping that you all have had a wonderful Easter? Many of you who know me, know I sell on Etsy and have done so for the last 4 and half years. My store is doing well, each year it has grown but with growing you have more problems. One of the problems that I face with shipping worldwide is that people forget they are ordering from someone in the UK. They often think that it will only take a few days instead of a few weeks to get there or even longer at busy times of the year. Christmas and Easter are terrible. Why do people leave it to the last minute to order? Have you ever ordered anything last minute in hopes it will arrive on time, something from abroad and not from your own country?

I am sure they also don't take into consideration the time allotted for knitting up the item. I have ordered something from abroad many times. Actually from your shores. I am always aware that I am usually waiting two to three weeks if not a full month. The only time I ordered from the UK and expected it come promptly was when I was asking the item to be delivered to an address within the UK. As a rule, when ordering from etsy, I generally pick sellers within the states surrounding my own.

I guess it depends on where you are in the USA. I've known items to get there within 5 days and some 5 weeks which isn't very often. Normally between 5-10 working days.

@kevin1877uk It depends on who you are working with as well. If it's a big business, maybe it's faster or maybe it's slower. A small business might be more likely to expedite things as best they can, just for the sake of return business from that customer. I've bought food from the UK and have had it take a month to get here, but that also included the week it took for them to finally get around to packing and shipping it.

@ScribbledAdNauseum True, maybe big business could ship faster. Just so many factors in it really.

I have the habit to order online and I know that if I order something from "China" I cannot expect to receive the item in a few days. I have to consider several weeks.
