I openly admit that I am a confirmed and proud Capitalist. It is the only economic system based on freedom and liberty. However, I have friends who are Socialist, Communist, Anarchists, Libertarians, and pretty much everywhere in between. No, we don't see eye to eye on much, but we are still friends.
When I was in college at BYU-!, I made a good friend who was from Moscow, Russia. As we got to know each other we realized that he had been in the Soviet Army the same time I was in the US Army... during the Cold War. Our inside joke was the basis of our friendship was that we were trained to kill each other. You don't make friendships like that if you can't have friends you disagree with. lol
If you live in echo chambers, get over yourself and live!

I don't really understand all the political terms. I'll have conversations with my other half and he might explain terms that I don't know. Politics is actually the one thing on which my partner and I disagree. We still talk about it. I will happily talk to people with opposing views as long as the discussion remains respectful. Sometimes, it is possible to come to an agreement or even realise that your opposing views are actually more similar than you thought. It's always good to see things from another perspective.

So as to avoid further conflicts it is best to respect everyone's viewpoint.

Oh, there are viewpoints of my friends I don't respect at all. If the time comes, we just may be on opposite sides of a very rough fight. It's not their viewpoint I respect, it's my friends I respect.
