Cleaning is good for the soul

During the Lenten break, I urged my daughters to help me clean and declutter their bedroom upstairs. It's been often littered with so many toys, books and other little things since they moved there last December. Our weekend housekeeper is usually the one who cleans it up.
It was hard to have them help me at first, but when their Daddy turned on Spotify and queued their favorite songs, all became well and they were glad to work again. We had one big black plastic bag full of trash + a small box of knickknacks (as I would call them) -- small toys and some coloring materials that they no longer use. We plan to give them to our housekeeper's children later.
It felt so good to see more space in the room. There's more to dispose of and declutter. But I'm okay with what we've done so far. I told the girls that we will do another general cleaning when school vacation starts. It's good for the soul. Sooner or later, I will have to confront again the clutter in my little personal nook upstairs. Too many notebooks and sketchbooks and art materials already!
Have you done some decluttering and general cleaning lately? What have you disposed of?

Yes, I like that it gets my body moving. I will have to clear some cobwebs in the basement as well.

@Janet357 I am allergic to dust. I wear a dust mask when I need to do a lot of dusting and wiping.

@almostoveryou good thing you are not allergic to dusts. When i do that, i sneeze a lot.

I did some general cleaning but seems like it's an unending task.

Yes, it's one thing that we need to keep up with every day.

it's good to get them involved. they get to decide what to keep, trash and give away.

I initially planned on cleaning the room all by myself. But there was just too much clutter, and I didn't want to cause confusion over a broken toy that they might still want to keep. So to be fair to my kids, I decided to have them as my cleaning consultants. ;)

@almostoveryou I do not change my curtains, I wash them and place back in place. They are beautiful custom make curtains, I have no intention to change them.

I haven't changed curtains and have yet to wipe the windows. But I do clean the bathrooms almost every day as I can't stand a grimy and stinky bathroom.

I mopped my kitchen floor yesterday. Last Wednesday I tried on my shorts and shirts to see all of it fit. A few shirts didn't fit and one pair of shorts didn't fit. I gave them away.

You've been productive! It's good to know that you can easily dispose of your clothing. While it's easy to give away mine, I find it hard to give away my daughters' pretty dresses. I still have a few of their baby clothes safely kept in a closet.

It's good to know that your husband is always willing to clean the room.
