Chaos in the airport

We were supposed to be traveling yesterday at 7pm. Prior to that we felt earthquake in our area. Although it was a mild one it had major impact in the plane schedule I guess as there were lots of flights cancelled and redirected in our destined airport. Our flight was initially delayed for three hours. After three hours passed it was further delayed as they say they have operational difficulties at the other airport. By the time it almost was midnight they suddenly declared that our flight was cancelled. Passengers were all furious when we were rebooking our flights. We demanded hotel accommodation since most of us travelled far from the airport and since its midnight there is no available transportation around. The employees managed to give us free accommodations by 1am. We got tired and rested.
Today, were all setup to return to the airport and check in again. Hopefully we would not encounter any problems along the way and finally arrived home in Manila.

I am back home already. A bit tired with all the delays with it looks like the problem with one big airport was the culprit. All flights going there were redirected to manila airport creating traffic that causes delay.
One good thing that happened in here is that we were given free flight to any domestic destination within 180 days.

@LadyDuck It is our first time that we got cancelled. Good thing someone from the passengers reminded us of our rides else the airlines were avoiding to provide accommodation to some of the passengers who were not complaining. When we were reminded everyone was demanding alredy.

I had such problem once in Brazil but due to bad weather conditions. The airline company at first did not want to pay for our hotel accommodation, but we won.

There is a law in place in our place that in cases like this they are obligated by the airlines to provide us food and accommodation plus the fares to and fro from hotel to airport. What annoys us is that we waited until midnight before they informed us the flight was cancelled and by that time they only acted to find us hotels. It took another couple of hours before we were transported to the hotel to rest. Another incentive we got was we were given one free flight which we can book within 180 days to any domestic flight they have.

@rsa101 It seems this is an international law. The airline said that we came late to the airport and could not board the plane. We all proved them that it was a lie.

@marguicha I see I guess its much more harder to do this in international flights. Looks like the plane hasn’t arrived yet and we’re delayed once again. This is annoying once again.

Here too, Cebu Pacific flights keeps cancelling flights. My niece was supposed to have a flight 25th, but was cancelled to 26th. She was happy it was cancelled to 26 because she still have a work to finish. However, when 26th came it was again cancelled. Thus she booked at PAL the next day, however, there was too much pressure while they were up in the sky already and they have to go back to Manila and waited 2 hours while just at the plane to refuel.
She wasn't able to go with the family in their outing to the beach.

Actually this happened in Legaspi Airport. This happened last Apr 23, I am surprised that the cancellation are still happening there. I thought it was due to the earthquake that happened during our flight. It seems that it is not since it still is happening to this day.

OH dear sorry to hear about your predicament. I hope that you manage to get away safely and glad you got your accommodation sorted out. Although you might be peeved at the moment in a while you will look back on this as part of your adventure. Have a great time!

Yeah I am glad that we just arrived home safely. We’re quite tired and just lying on bed. Back at the airport there were passengers that was flaring up their frustrations because some were supposed to have transfer flights and they were left by their planes. The airline cannot do anything but to accept all the insults and complaints from them.

@garymarsh6 besides that they are also causing the delay in processing our tickets because the customer service would be focusing on her alone and ignore the rest of us.

@rsa101 Some people are so stupid and although I understand their frustration so they would prefer to fly on an unsafe flight would they? I have seen the way people behave and it is so unreasonable. Why people take on this behaviour is beyond normal. I would not like to be an employee at the airport but they do not have to take abuse from people! I would tell them to go away calm down and return when they want to discuss things in a reasonable manner!

@thelme55 I think that caused the mess in everything when all flights goin to clark was diverted to manila. It caused congestion which prompted other airlines to cause delays or cancellations because they cant accept planes coming in and out.

I never had a flight canceled, maybe because our airport is small and we have no major problems

Yeah I am back home safely. It was supposed to be a 1:30 flight but it took us overnight and the next day several hours still delayed. When we arrived at our destination we have to travel a couple more hours because it was rush hour already.
