This is it....oh, wait, that's a Jim Reeves song. (And yes, he'll have to go somewhere on this countdown....
) My last day of work. I got a "retirement" Snoopy shirt that says, "I don't want to. I don't have to. You can't make me. I'm RETIRED." Henceforth, it's only what I want to. Thank God! And to celebrate, here's an appropriately-titled song.
#8: Goodbye, Goodbye - Oingo Boingo
So you've never heard of Oingo Boingo (unless you're a new wave fan), but you have heard Danny Elfman's music. He has a Grammy for the Batman soundtrack and an Emmy for the Desperate Housewives music. Oh, and he wrote the theme to The Simpsons.
I liked the soundtrack to the movie much better than the movie itself. And this is a great song to sing as you're walking out the door for the last time.
Oingo Boingo was a fun band, and this song, which plays during the closing credits of Fast Times at Ridgemont High, showcases that. This had 'em dancing down the aisles as they left the movie house.
It'll have me dancing down the stairs as I leave the office building, too.

I can't believe I'm still around:

It's not, it's just that the title fits. Most of the titles fit the theme of leaving (especially a job), even if some of the lyrics (or most of the lyrics) don't. I considered using "Will You Miss Me When I'm Gone" by the Carter Family, but that's so morbid (the title question is posed by a dying person
).
