The agony and the ecstasy

I stopped at Kaiser Martinez (CA) today to pick up some meds and check on my snow peas. What I found made me both happy and sad. One of my plants was dying, and I noticed that some poor little snow peas had died in vain, never to be eaten. But another slightly smaller plant was still alive and well, and yielding peas. I munched a couple after I took this photo, and left the rest for othes to snack on. With the hot days of summer coming, I'll hold off on planting snow peas (they seem to prefer cool and wet) and continue to focus on green beans, corn, sunflowers and tomatoes. What are you planting right now?

My husband just planted several varieties of tomatoes and some squash. Much smaller garden than years ago.

Does squash require a lot of water?

I can't plant, nothing survives-I must have a thumb color different than green for sure!

I suggest succulents therapy. They're hard to kill.

I have not planted something new this month because of the heat. I was planning to cut my moringa branch but i have yet to do so.

I have my chili peppers, tomato plants in pots inside the house ready to be moved outside as soon as the temperature during the night goes up. Most of the herbs are perennial, I have planted more parsley, cilantro, basil and dill, they are also growing in pots in the greenhouse.

@TheHorse As soon as the weather is hot, it blooms. I seed every 15 days, so I have new little plants all the time.

I wish I were better with cilantro. I love eating it, but I'm not so good at growing it. What's the secret?

Green beans, radishes, bell pepper, spinach. No tomatoes. Tomatoes just can't take the heat.

Tomatoes seem to like Berkeley and Oakland, where the temperatures stay moderate. I get a few out here in the 'burbs, though.

Looks like a cucumber on the ground running. I planted sunflowers, corn, green beans, squash and tomatoes. I have baby bell peppers in small cups.

Sounds pretty similar to my basics. I've done squash some Summers. But they're not tasty right off of the "vine."

@andriaperry How about chopped, and then fried in butter, olive oil, and garlic?

@TheHorse Better chopped into a salad, or fried.

I couldn’t have a green thumb if you dipped it in paint.

Think "The Graduate." Plastics? No. "Succulents."

Today was sunny and warm here. It never changed. I planted some more sunflowers in small cups.
