Today my daughter is in a school trip, the weather has been so bad lately that at first I didn't want her to go ... (you know, mothers are like this) but today the rain stopped and besides it isn't warm yet it is better and I let her go. I will pick her later afternoon but I can't avoid being worried. She is now traveling with the primary school group and she feels very happy for being with the elder ones This year the teachers decided to make updates about the trip in the school facebook page and this help us to know that everything is going well. The technology can help us in these situations and I don't feel so anxious. Do you use to contact your children when they are/were in school trips to check if everything is ok?

I used to worry when my kids went on school trips, and in those days, we didn't have Facebook or any technology. I was most worried when our 16 year old son went to Europe with many of his classmates and teachers for two weeks, but he handled himself well.

My kids are all grown now but I would worry when they went on a school trip. We didn't have the technology in those days to check. It's nice that you can get updates on your daughters trip today.

I always volunteered to be a chaperone on my children's school trips, so I was always there with them wherever they traveled. The teachers always loved having me on the trips, and so they would always make sure to call me whoever a school trip was coming up so they could make sure I joined them. They said I was always so fun to have on the trips! I told them that was because I was just a big kid myself!

@nela13 Here in the US, if parents want to volunteer at their school or chaperone field trips, they have to submit an application and undergo a background check to make sure they don't have a criminal history. It's a pretty rigid process to get cleared to be a volunteer in the schools. Of course, they do this to make sure they are doing everything they can to protect the children.

Here the parents never go in school trips but it is a great idea, I could volunteer to be a chaperone too
