Where Were You When I Needed You

This is always a good question when you rely on someone and suddenly they are not there. This song by the Grassroots reminded me of a dear friend. He was my friend from high school on and while I worked in NYC he came once a week to take me to lunch. After I moved to Latvia we kept in touch and I even had the opportunity at the end of the 1990s to introduce him to my soul mate when we went to NYC. He always said to me that one day we would sit back in our older years and laugh about how life used to be and how it is. Unfortunately, neither he nor I foresaw that he would die back in 2004. He would have been my rock to lean on when my I lost my soul mate. Life is strange that way, here I am alone and those two are up there together but at least they are looking out for me. Now for the song “Where Were You When I Needed You” by the Grassroots was on their debut studio album in 1966. The song was actually written for the Hermans Hermits and their movie Hold On! They chose to use different song so it was picked up by the Grassroots. Have you ever asked someone Where were you when I needed you? How many of you know this song? Who likes the Grassroots?
The Grass Roots is an American rock band that charted between 1966 and 1975. It was originally the creation of Lou Adler and songwriting duo P. F. Sloan and ...

I haven’t heard that song, and am very sorry of your losses. I needed my husband once and texted and called him. He never heard the text or phone ring.

I have never asked that question to anyone, mainly because God is always there and can provide what we really need through many sources and not anyone specifically.

I listened to the song and was surprise that the tone is very upbeat. The lyrics is pretty sad though. I hope you're doing fine with your life. It's sad that you lost two important people in your life. There's no words to ease the pain that you've been feeling at least you have two angels guiding you. You may have lost them physically but in your heart and mind, they'll remain forever.

I don't know this song. There's also not many people I would count on to be there if I needed them. Some I THINK would, but I won't count on it.

Right now I don't really have anyone but myself to rely on @nonersays and as I mention in the post my dear husband and my bestest friend have departed this world so I can only look toward the skies and ask that question

That is the ONLY thing (oh I can tolerate the aches and pains!) I hate about getting old--I have two friends left from my childhood (well before I was 60) with one living in NYC where I won't go back to and the other in Memphis who at least comes to see me every 4 years for my Leap Year birthdat!

One of my favorite groups from long ago. Temptation Eyes, Sooner or Later, and Midnight Confessions are three of my favorites.
