Poetry: The death of a loved one is not the death of love

Do we really die if our candle all burns away? Does the flame itself ever die?

Death came not so stealthily to take my mum away, one day. Its path was set out plainly for us all to see, in our dismay. Nothing could slow the pace of its ride, astride & inside her. Death gobbled her up with its unending appetite, unquenched. Death never solves any problems that life creates for itself. Life must solve its own problems. To defy, or deny, is to die. In some ways, it's our choice to live, or to die, while we're alive, and yet Death and life have their own rules defined, underlined. When we love, we do not die, unless we die to our self. Death is stronger than love, only when love dies in us. There is love still within death, and death still within love. Sure, some part of us has died, but some part of us didn't! Love was always unborn, uncreated, and has existed forever as God. God loved by loving his creation, bringing his love to life, in life. We love by loving others, ourselves, and God, then we live love. As much as we love, we keep on living in life, in love, forever more. @innertalks I see, my friend. I think she sails smoothly to the other side. I hope such an inevitable thing will come to me or to us when we are prepared already.

@simplfred Yes, and every so often, we do get some glimpses that it is so too. That feeds my hope!

This a very beautiful poem. Love is really never ending and it's all around us. Your mom is in God's hands now; she will no longer feel pain.

Thanks. Yes, I think love is all around us too. My mum's love is still around me too. I still feel it.

@Hannihar Yes, at least it wasn't just the pain and sadness alone.

Thanks Hanni. Yes, there was a lot of pain and sadness behind that writing. I was trying to tell myself that behind all of that pain and sadness, there must still be love too.

@whiteream Yes, thanks again. Mother's day yesterday was hard, after having mum for 60 Mother's days before that.

It's always painful to lose a love one..it can be a mom, a dad, a sibling or a friend. We just have to tell ourselves the love doesn't stop there..it flows..
