Our family brought a copper kettle over from Denmark when we came to the US. It is the only heirloom from my father's side of the family. It is also the oldest thing (more than 200 years old) that we pass through our family.
How about you? What is the oldest family heirloom you have?

There were many things given away! My great-grandfather was a finish carpenter for the pullman railroad car company. None of his tools were saved.

I guess my china doll that belonged to my great grandmother when she was a little girl around 1875...I forget the exact date. I'm sure you treasure your copper kettle from Denmark, that's really cool.

We had an old family bible, but my uncle decided to give it to another family member. I wish he hadn't had done that.

@DocAndersen Thank you. Oldest almanacs dates back to 1950's and the pages are tattered. I don't know if I could keep them for long.

I have a lot of antiques, I do not want to sell them ... maybe one day my daughter will do it or her children. I think the oldest one is radio, but I'm not sure, I believe it's written back on the sticker

@DocAndersen That's exactly what I believe will one day be worth a lot. Maybe it's worth it now, but I'm forwarding it to my daughter

I think my dad is our oldest family heirloom! :D
Actually, I'm not sure. There are a few things in the family that have been passed down a couple of generations. I have a teddy that my sister gave to me. That teddy is older than me but not really an heirloom. The oldest things I have, personally, are an opal ring that was my mum's and a silver fruit bowl that was my nanna's.

yes, the copper kettle has survived three different house fires. Sorry you lost everything.
