Just Me And My Way Of Doing That....

Hey I don´t know how to say a Rosary properly and I don´t use a proper Rosary either. What I have done is to take a simple shoe lace a nice soft broad one and tie knots in it and just wrap it around one of my hands usually the right one. Doing it this way makes me no worse or better than anyone else its just my way of prayer as repeating a proper prayer makes me lose the feeling and the concentration I want to get all that good stuff all out there far and wide. Who gave me this idea? I don´t know at all but it helps me much more than just repeating a lot of words one after the other. They are good words but I cannot hold them like a lot of people can. Like I said when I see distress out there you might just find me and all others like me in prayer at least that kind anyway. Sue And Her Shoestring Thing.... Sue rebels against conventional stuff Sue has sometimes had things very rough What she is seeing now are tempestual times She reaches out with a shoestring wrapped around her hand She sends best wishes to each and every land For them all to be in harmony You might just say how can this possibly be? So Sue and her shoestring rosary knows not how to say a Rosary properly What she does know is to take the essence of it and hold it together in her mind She flings that good feeling of it all far and wide This is Sue and her shoestring rosary It might not be your personal idea of prayer But the feeling in her heart is always there These are all my own words I have not borrowed or copied them from anywhere except me myself. Not trying to gain brownie or girl guide points at all I am sure that there are others like me too.

Me I am. I don't think you need anything special to talk with God. Surly makes no difference to him as long as you pray. I have several rosaries I could give you if only we lived close collected during my cross collecting phase I went through. because I just liked them.

@bunnybon7 Its sort of like a memory thing you know those stones that you would carry in your hand except a stone is very easy to lose.

Prayer can cross thousands of miles a shoestring or lace is much more useful to me and I know some might not understand that but its soft and the knots remind me of what I am doing and its easy for me like that and I don´t call the attention of anyone in particular.

I love it. Love the prayer very much. Comes from the heart. Muttered with sincerity, Our God loves, most of all, a sincere and fervent prayer. There was a story of a lowly fisher folk who never learned the formula prayers. This fisherman would come to church and see people praying the Rosary. When, one day, he saved enough money to buy a Rosary, he was shocked when he realized he didn't know how to pray it. Not wanting to embarrass himself, he simply uttered the "pulseras pulseras butas butas" which translates to " bracelet bracelet full of holes" and he said the words from his heart. Story ends with Our Lady smiling down upon him.

That really touches my heart you know as that is the way I am. I find it really hard to say a prayer that is conventional too. I got into this habit when I was trying to pray for my Mom. Beautiful story thank you very much and says it all.

@lovinangelsinstead21 Sue and her Shoestring Thing is very poetic, and it is written passionately from the heart. Today is the 1st of May, our Lady's month of flower offerings,. I am sure that with your Sue and her Shoestring Things, our Lady is sending Her Love to you from heaven.

@eileenleyva Thank you I did not know that I am high in ignorance of that kind of thing however I see and feel that Our Lady is compassionate and merciful which is something we need in high doses. Wishing all a great day ahead I had never known about this special day. Hang on a bit. Can you see it? The pink colour and the green are both deep healing colours. I hope she can see these colours too.

@ShifaLk I feel like that kind of prayer goes much further as we falter and lose words and meaning and then we go back again and alter what we want that is true prayer from the heart.

That´s right and the minute someone starts telling me to do that another way I just can´t get it and I lose a hold of it.

@lovinangelsinstead21 yes true. You are right. Even I pray in my own way, though sometimes it sounds childish but that's the real Pray from my heart so I don't care about others.

@resukill22 Its different for me every time as I put out a request for certain situations going on in the world a lot times so conventional prayers block my true feelings I cannot help being that way.

I just pray at night to God, and I am good with that, however I find so cool that you do it, and step by step you enhance the day you say the Rosary.

I have not got a fixed hour really you know its just when I feel I need to say something and fling it out to the world somewhere wherever it goes. I often will sing something too to get me into that mode of feeling. It can be any kind of soft music or song that I know that takes you into a state of calm and good feeling.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I totally get it. Same happens to me. There's a moment in the day I feel that way. However I always pray at night to feel calmer.

I am, I suppose, what one might term an 'agnostic' and pretty much a 'believing sceptic' (if such a thing can exist). If I had to put my relationship to whatever I mean by the words 'God' and spirituality in a Facebook status, it would be 'It's complicated' ! Leave it at that. I do see a value in prayer and meditation and a rosary (or a pattern of beads or knots in a string) can certainly concentrate the mind, which has a habit of wandering off in random directions like a sheep unless it has something to keep it on course. Whether you see the value of this kind of prayerful meditation in terms of your beliefs or merely as a psychological tool for calming the mind doesn't matter, in my view: it's probably both (or do I mean that both are essentially the same thing?) You keep on with your shoestring knots! There's no need to apologise for such a device. You will find, I am sure, just as much peace and sustenance as those who 'pray the Rosary' expertly and have rosaries beautifully made from precious stones and worth a fortune!

Just my way of seeing things too although I know how you feel. I think my Mom really got me into this as she saw life her own way and I cannot blame her for feeling the way she did very long story. All of the family I have had around me have felt like you say. Sue and her Shoestring my Mom again got me into that I am sure as I was in England trying to sort out some very stressful situations and the front and back garden helped me enormously beside I have an allergy to those metal bits that hold the beads together.

I have my Great Grandmother's Rosary but have no idea how to use it (I'm not Catholic) but it would make me feel closer to Nanny's mother if I did... I have my own way of talking to God, but I'm curious about Josephine would have talked to God!!

It doesn't matter how you want to make your prayers. I'm sure God doesn't mind how you do it either.

I am qutie sure that he does not mind either as long as its said from the heart. Even if you get all the words wrong or tongue twisted he will still listen and I know that. My Mom who was an agnostic total got me into this trying to pray for her recovery and to sort out some very difficult situations that were in that house at the time. I needed time and space and although I could not save her life I am pretty sure God had his hand in protecting her with me being beside her all I could.
