A dream come true!

The other day Little One and I were walking home from a friend’s house, and Little One kept stopping to blow the seed heads off dandelions – I had to tell her to stop because all the houses in that road have open-plan front gardens so I can imagine they wouldn’t be too pleased at having their tidy flower beds filled with dandelion seeds!
Yesterday I took my car for repair and then walked the ‘scenic way’ home. The first part was a footpath across a field. This was previously an arable field but has been sold for development, sadly. The building hasn’t started yet so the field is currently unused and it was absolutely full of dandelions, I’ve never seen anything like it – just flowers and seed head ‘clocks’ as far as the eye could see.
For Little One to go crazy in here seems like a dream come true! I will have to take her there after school and let her run amock!

Dandelions are such beautiful flowers but just because they grow so easily they do not get the respect they deserve.

@Fleur I have brought in wild flowers and they have a pride of place in our garden

I quite like dandelions. We get quite a few on the council owned grass in front of our house, but then the council mow them down. They come back quickly though. They will not be beaten, especially by a man on a mower!

After many years I've finally realised why you get so many in gardens and verges and not elsewhere - they only grow among short grass and other plants. So if the grass is allowed to grow long, the dandelions will disappear. If you mow it, you are actually doing the dandelions a favour. Whatever was in this field before has been harvested and then it's just been left empty and strangely sterile, so the dandelions have colonised en masse!

I love the photo and the thought of your little one enjoying the dandelions! I loved them when I was a child too. I often see the quote "Some see a weed, some see a wish." with dandelion pics. It's one of my favorites.
