Joe spent a lovely evening out
carousing in the pub
much ale was drunk and songs were sung
and he was at its hub.
"I'm going to a lecture now"
he said at closing time
"it's on effects of alcohol,
how drink can be a crime.
It also deals with those who smoke
and proves it causes strife",
then Fred asked "Who's the lecture by?"
"Oh that would be my wife".
I remember giving a few 'lectures' like this myself, do you?

oh how i've missed yer poems, sweet friend! i sure needed the giggle 'n love the pic, too. i've found lecturin' here does no good, but makes schtuff worse so gave'p e'en discussin' thingies 'til the smoke's cleared.

! Your poem is just too funny 
. I guess Hubby and I had our phases together . . . now he may have something every now and then, but I hardly ever. But whatever the topic, I am often the lecturer period

A great poem. We both got lectured by our sons once. They were in their late teens but at home on that occasion. We went out and didn't get back till around 2am after going on to the casino after attending a play. We hadn't told them where we were going or when we'd be back. It was nice to know they were worried.

I could once hold a lot of liquor, but never smoke.Now I still drink in moderation.My wife used to give me a long lecture about the dangers of drink when I drank myself silly,but I thought afterwrads it was all for my good .The photo makes me laugh !

I love the photo too. I actually think that my daughter has a kermit very much like the one above. All I have to do is find a bench to fit and I'm just going to have to copy this lol!!
