Maximum Security, the favorite, was the first horse to cross the finish line at Churchill Downs but apparently there were objections about the performance as at least 2 horses paths were cut off by him. I missed the whole explanation about it as I was working on some cooking. My dad did text me to tell me that my horses didn't win/place/show but that the race was under review.
I didn't think that the stewards would turn over the result of a race where the "winner" was so favored. I am shocked! They disqualified the horse and Country Home (who had 65-1 odds) was declared the winner.
This certainly was an eventful first race for the Triple Crown!

I'm sure that just like in any sport, in horse racing the jockeys look for any competitive edge they can get out on the track, even if it means cutting off other horses. That's why the officials have rules in place to prevent the jockeys from gaining a competitive advantage, and as much as it sucks that the winner was disqualified, it was done to protect the integrity of the sport.

@NJChicaa I'm surprised too. But who knows what made them want to go review the race, unless they received multiple complaints from other jockeys or owners.

For the winners that must have been exciting. I used to go to Belmont Racetrack when I lived in NYC.
