I hope Hollywood wont cast Tom Cruise and Scarlett Johansson for this one

So Hollywood is going to make a historical movie about Yasuke.
Yasuke was an African Slave who was accompanying Jesuit missionaries to spread Christianity in Japan. He was big and strong so he was recruited by the Warlord Nobunaga to be his right handman. He is basically the only Black Samurai in existence.
I heard Hollywood will make a movie about his life. I wonder who will they cast to play him.
This is a fascinating story so they better not mess this one.
Yasuke stood out so much so in Japan, that he would attract the attention of the Lord Oda Nobunaga who would eventually welcome him into his own entourage as...

Tom Cruise had his samurai moment in The Last Samurai . . . he'd need to leave it there. I am not a Scarlett Johansson fan. I hope there are a bunch of unknowns in it . . . that helps me to believe a story. Like Samuel L. Jackson in Star Wars - as much as I like him, that ruined it for me. Interesting that this is going to be a movie . . . I think I saw dramas about Nobunaga when I was a kid, but I don't recall anyone like Yasuke in it. Hmmm.

He was not taught on schools but there are documentaries about him and he is the inspiration for the Anime Afro Samurai.
Philippines have a similar story, David Fagen, He was an African American slave who joined US military during US philippine occupation. He betrayed US and fought with Filipinos after seeing maltreatment of Aetas (Black Aboriginal Filipinos)

@CaptAlbertWhisker Oh, I didn't know about the Anime one. Interesting about these African - African/American guys! I saw on Wiki some art to document Yasuke (I think) . . . I'll have to ask my parents about this because I don't think they even know!

They seemed to care more about Black people though and most they whitewash male Asian roles but yeah this movie is going to have a lot of needed Japanese roles so many Asian roles are still in danger of whitewashing. The Catholic missionaries should be the only white people on this movie.

I am sure that the studios will not bring Tom Cruise and Scarlett Johansson for this movie. There are plenty of minority actors who will take a chance to play this role.

They finally announced who will play him. Chadwick Boseman from Black Panther. Tom Cruise are just the running gags for whitewashing for the Asian roles they stole.
