I am on several DO NOT CALL LIST!! I have to leave my cell phone on because I am expecting a call from my son's doctor. I turned my phone on early because, she said, she would call to confirm an appointment and she wanted to talk to me about some things. She said, she would call in the morning.
Since turning on my cell phone I have had five calls, from places asking me about college loan dues. I have never taken out a loan so I don't even know where they got my number from. This is one of the reasons I am not happy about all these websites wanting your phone number.
To top it all off I have gotten a letter say that unless we get new phone we will have no service at the end of the year. They are going over to only smart phones.
When websites ask for your phone do you give them your real number?
Does it bother you when you get calls from marketers?
Do you keep your phone off because of these types of calls?

I never, never answer unless I know the number. But when I get Sunshine`s Homestead Creations going I will leave the phone on for the business but never my cell phone. Since Tony is sick I leave it off more than on, he needs to sleep not cuss out those people.

Yes, that is understandable. I only answer calls I know the number. But, I have realized that I should leave my phone on just in case. There have been times when people were trying to get a hold of me, and I did not know it because, I leave my phone off and only check every few days.

Many people do that. I am not really sure how to block a call on my phone, I don't use it that much.

That Do Not Call doesn't work anymore. It only applies to calls within the US and spammers now operate offshore.

I have realized that. That is why I hardly ever have my phone on anymore, but my in-laws are getting up in age and I have realized that I need to leave it on. They have called a few times and I did not answer.

I also often receive phone calls from strangers. It made me a little paranoid when I received a call from an unknown number

Just don't answer the phone. There is always someone trying to sell something or get information from you.

Blocking those numbers sounds like a good idea, but they call from many different numbers.

@whiteream Yes,they adopt various techniques(even proxy numbers) to call you nonetheless. This is not fool proof. You can quickly get info of such numbers before picking such a call if you are registered with an online registry of numbers where the community keep on updating numbers with attributes such as sales, harassment, prank etc.

I do not like receiving marketing calls. I don't know how they get hold of my number. If I receive an unwanted call, I ask the caller - "did I ask you to call me?" and that helps in ending the conversation. I immediately block such numbers.
I hate sharing my mobile number on any website. I use my number, only when it is very essential.

My phone must have rung 5 times in a row this morning with bogus calls. It is frustrating and I just let it all go to voicemail.

I hate when that happens. I hardly ever turn my phone on unless I am expecting a call.

I don't leave my real one either. That's why I am not sure how they got my number.
