I just received the estimate for the shower door of my bathroom. I was shocked. The shower door was over $800.
I am in the middle of the mess, so there´s nothing to do but accept it. We went to a couple of other places with Juan Pablo to see other shower doors and they were not as nice and almost as expensive.
So, I´ll have to stretch my budget elsewhere. The only thing I can imagine is to spend less in food. I don´t spend much in other items.

We were pricing flooring for our big bathroom and it's terrible what they charge! Any kind of remodeling job, is far too expensive:(

@marguicha When Mom lived here, we made the bathroom extremely safe for her. And you are right about this. If we're gonna have our home changed, it should be done with quality products and workmanship.

@LadyDuck This is a beautiful 8 mm shower door with hinges. The idea is that if I ever need to be helped, I could sit in the shower receptacle (a big one) and an aide could help me without getting wet.

@marguicha In Italy you can get a very good one for 300$, they start at 60$, but I would not buy. We spent 650$ when we changed our shower, but it was more than only the door.

We gave our contractor free reign when he gutted and redid our condo in Florida, since we only visited twice to make decisions. Our shower doors were overpriced, but we are so happy with them. It will be worth it when all is said and done.

Sometimes we do get shocked by sudden expenses and ig is even more annoying when we cannot avoid them.
We had to spend INR 4000 in March for our RO water system problem (nearly 55 USD) and that was a setback for my budgeting for that month but it was an unavoidable expense.

That is a lot for a shower door - is it a special size or material? I remember we asked about a certain shower door price - it was smaller than standard - and the guy said something crazy like $2000. I think our shower/bath one wasn't even $300.1 person likes this

I needed a special shower door. It does not slide, but it opens. Those hinges on glass are very expensive.

We have experienced this when we built our house The Engineer had given us an estimate which was broken up and even then the total cost was almost double the estimate.

That certainly is a lot. But you do need that bathroom finished. Somehow I think it would have been better if that price included labor to put in the door.
