So today i went to a friends house and well her culture is different so her mom offered me some coffee i said yes. She put water in the microwave for only 45 seconds then put coffee and sugar just like that. Man that was torture. I felt like i was drinking dirty water. I am not good at saying no to someone because i don't want to make them feel bad. She kept offering me food and i said i wasn't hungry. She was offering me hash brown and cupcakes. My stomach is so full and it hurts. What would you have done? Would you have said you didn't like the coffee?

Lately I have become more clever. I ask for only a glass of water, thank you. Coffee can be very good or it can be VERY bad.

@Ladanger Coffee is the kind of beverage where you can get mostly wrong. I don´t drink Coca Cola, but at least, if I drink it once, I know I´ll poison myself.. But it would be a pity to envision a real café and get an awful concoction!

@marguicha especially because everyone prepares it differently

Oof, was it instant coffee? That can be good sometimes but I am really picky when it comes to coffee instant or not haha I normally just go with water. I would have drank it because I cannot speak up to something like that to save my life, but after that I would have just gone with water.

Yes it's hard to just throw away when it has already been served to you

I don't think I would have said anything. I would drink it and next time I would say "No thanks" if they offered me coffee again.

I think I would have said something if it was really awful.
When I'm asked if I like coffee or tea, I always say that I'll drink what the hosts drink. One can assume that what they prepare for themselves tastes good. I learnt that some time ago when I answered 'tea' in a household where tea is never drunk. I have no idea why these people even have tea at home. The stuff they prepared was horrible.

I should have known since they did not even have a coffee maker. Next time i will say yes only to water unless i already know the people.
