Pumpkin's Positive Post - Winning and Other Things

Escape Reality

Hello everyone. Some of you may have seen my ranty discussion. If not, you can see it here: https://www.mylot.com/post/3276063/pumpkins-rant-of-the-day-my-first-non-paying-client I would suggest reading that first and then coming back to this one if you wish to read both! Today, I got to work feeling a little grumpy/annoyed/angry. I discovered, however, that I had entered the highest bid for an auction that was going on at work. We have various charity events. This time, a local escape room had donated a voucher for a game. Escape Reality is actually in the same building - the same floor even - as my work. It's not possible, as far as I know, to get between the two businesses without going out of one and across to a different door for the other. It is possible, however, to have a game over a lunch time as we can have an hour for lunch and the maximum escape time is also one hour. I think there were only two people bidding on the voucher. I paid £55 for it, which is not bad as it's for one game for up to 6 people - making it worth £96. As it's something I enjoy anyway, it's definitely a bargain. Now all I need is to choose who to take with me. Also at work, we were trying to work out something. We are not supposed to use abbreviations that are not universally known. We asked someone we thought would know about one - he didn't. After a minute or so, it came to me and I was happy to have worked it out! Then, I think, I said something else clever. I can't remember what it was, though. Another thing was that, after trying to get some more information about an archery course that is starting soon. I had asked a couple of times for the cost of membership (which I still don't know, only that it's £15 off membership for people who do the beginners course) and how to pay. Today, I intended to send them another message to follow this up. I didn't need to as I received an email with most of the information I needed. I was able to sign up and pay for the course so I will be starting an archery course on 3rd June. I am very much looking forward to this. I've also got lots of other fun things coming up. Last weekend, I went to see a play. This weekend, I'm going away for a few days with my other half and youngest son. What exciting things do you have planned? What's the best bargain you've ever bagged or the best thing you've ever won?

Glad to read this more positive post. The best thing I ever won was first prize in the garden competition in my town. I actually won it 6 years running, then they asked me not to enter any more

Wow, that's amazing. I could win a prize for the tallest nettles, perhaps, but I'm not great at keeping a nice garden! It's a bit unfair to ask you not to enter. You should be used to inspire people, not taken out of the competition to make it easier for everyone else!

@pumpkinjam Well I could see their point of view - people would see (or assume) that I'd entered and decide that they couldn't compete, so the entries went down.

I'm glad you have fun things coming up. I don't have anything planned. Next weekend is our Memorial Day weekend. Nothing planned for that. We got a good price on a dishwasher recently.

Sometimes, it's nice not to have plans. I think I get so excited that I'm exhausted by the time these things come round! I do enjoy making plans and making memories but it is nice to not have anything to do occasionally. Last weekend, this weekend, and next weekend, I've had/got plans. It's unusual for me as most of my weekends involve taking my youngest to his drama group and sitting in the library to work while he's there!

@pumpkinjam We might BBQ on Memorial Day; but that's about it.
