Quote Challenge #1 - Bob Wiley on People

I'm jumping on the bandwagon - bandwagon being @CarolDM 's Quote Challenge. Great idea! Thanks Carol.
So this quote comes to you from the great movie called "What About Bob" featuring Bill Murrey and Richard Dreyfuss. If you've not seen this 1990's comedy I highly recommend it. In short - Bob is a highly anxious Obsessive Compulsive, who, in spite of his disorders still manages to be warm, outgoing and friendly. And also blind to social cues and overbearing. When Bob visits the office of Leo Marvin (Dreyfuss) he latches on to his new pal instantly. Even following him and his family on their vacation. The family loves Bob, but Bob annoys Leo and drives him, literally, insane.
So this part of the movie is Bob's advice to Leo's teenage daughter on making new friends. I find it inspiring and it reminds me to not take people too seriously.

You've done it again. You found the one movie I haven't seen. Did you put it on one of the Movie Night lists yet?
I like the idea of treating people like telephones. Sometimes it takes a while to get a good connection.

Wow! The only movie you've not seen. Our movie list is getting long. We should catch up with this soon.
It's sort of funny but when I first read your second paragraph my mind wanted to fill in - treat people like telephones and slam their face into the wall, and then I thought - today's kid's wouldn't even know what that means.
Anyway - yes, and then other times good connections happuly instantly

@FayeHazel We should get the Movie Nights caught up before they get out of control.
That's true...A lot of people under 20 or maybe even under 25 now have never hung up a real phone...I can't even remember the last time I even saw a regular phone in someone's house.

So true. Another thought that helps me is that - when someone I don't know well seems chilly to me I also remind myself that something else could be going on in their life

Ah, sometimes when people don't understand us, it's because they don't want to.... that's ok though... I think the best to just move along in those cases
