How Do You Like Your Beans?

Tonight I fancy baked beans on toast for dinner but I understand this may be a British thing. I had an American friend. Lysette, when I was at school and she couldn't believe I ate beans on toast but she was also impressed with our Toblerone chocolate (although she called it Toblertone!) and when she arrived in England she thought her dad was having a laugh when she saw he'd hired a Mini car to get them from London to Norfolk! So, how do you like your baked beans?

On toast. I tried it once. I bought a can of the heinz beans in the teal can (Heinz with tomato sauce). I added worcestershire, toasted a piece of bread and put my beans on top of it. I liked it. I also like to add mustard, barbecue sauce and sometimes honey to a can of baked beans. Of course I mean the kind like Bush's (I'm not sure if you guys have bush's in England) which has molasses etc in them. I will add bacon and / or some bacon grease to baked beans as well.

I like your idea of adding Worcestershire sauce. Must try it next time around.

Filipinos don't bake beans, we boil or in the case of our household pressure cook it and make chili con carne( one of my favorite food) or make pork and beans which btw we can tolerate eating with bread or rice.

Baked beans on toast are a very British thing! I've never eated this speciality and don't know anyone who has. "Our" Toblerone is a joke, isn't it? Toblerone is Swiss! See here: Have you ever noticed the picture of a mountain on a Toblerone chocolate? It's the outline of the Matterhorn which is located between Switzerland and Italy and certainly not in England. The mind is boggling.

Not so keen on beans on toast because i don't really like soggy toast! But practically any other way really - on baked potatoes, with barbecue food, I even make baked bean curry sometimes!

I'm with you on the baked potato and beans and I have on occasions added sultanas to baked beans and added a bit of curry powder.

I love baked beans with molasses and brown sugar. Some onions too.
