1908 - Ian Fleming, English journalist and author of James Bond is born
1944 - Gladys Knight is born. The "Empress of Soul" she is an American singer/songwriter, actress, businesswoman and author. 7x Grammy winner. 1960s-1980s was with Gladys Knight and the Pips. Had a solo career afterwards. Rolling Stones 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. She's also been in movies and television. 1996 - Gladys Knight and the Pips inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. 1995 - received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
