An Interesting Bit of Art from the Past

Flatware Skiers from Festival of the Arts in Paso Robles, 2011

I was looking through my Amazon photo storage today to find something fun to share with you and I saw this from May 29, 2011. It was taken at the Festival of the Arts that year in Paso Robles, a festival that's been discontinued now. It got too big for the sponsoring organization to handle. Anyway, I rather liked these skiers made from flatware. Creative, yes? What's the oddest thing you've ever made? Or are you more like me -- not all that artistic? How do you express your creativity?

Those are cute, I sewed small hearts for Valentine's Day this year. I like to craft.

Those are lovely. A person would be happy to receive one of those.

@MALUSE No there is nothing in the hearts, pillow filling only. I make little bags for the drawers with lavender, or cinnamon and dried orange zests.

I write poetry. Creativity is something I love to see, but doing well that never really turns out.

I have to be in a certain frame of mind to write poetry, and the result is something a real poet would consider inferior. Sometimes I also break into silly rhyme.

It's amazing what someone with imagination and artistic talent can do with what others might just throw away.

@bagarad That is really creative. I put things on the picture of my cat because in real life she would not let me do those things on her. It was fun.

Cats are rather fussy about what they will allow. Too bad you don't have a picture of the cat's picture.

@Hannihar I'd like to see the picture of Sophie that you put things on, as you described above.

It shows how creative someone can be once the idea is born.

I like art in all forms but some are not for me to make. I express myself with words.

I was amazed at the creations of one artist who had a booth of nothing but things made of flatware -- everything from windchimes to sculptures. It takes both imagination and talent.
