1539 - In Florida, Hernando de Soto lands at Tampa Bay with 600 soldiers with the goal of finding gold.
1908 - Mel Blanc was born. He was an American voice actor and radio personality. He was the voice of: Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety Bird, Sylvester the Cat, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, Marvin the Martian, Pepe Le Pew, Speedy Gonzales, Wile E. Coyote, Road Runner, Tasmanian Devil, Barney Rubble, Mr. Spacely of the Jetsons, Woody Woodpecker. He was "The Man of a Thousand Voices". He died in 1989.
1918 - Bob Evans was born. He was an American businessman who founded the Bob Evans Restaurants. He died in 2007.

We have history with Desoto Caverns here. Its actually a park now, a very expensive park.
