Bringing a Chair

Wooden Classroom Chair

I took my grade one in our local elementary school. It's my late mother who enrolled me to an old maid classroom teacher sometime in 1960. We're around 30 pupils in one class. I was the last one to enter the class. There was no chair available for me. I was forced to sit on the floor near the blackboard. The following day my late father brought me a chair which he made it out of exta lumber and pieces of cut bamboo we had at home. The following school year I was promoted to grade two and my chair was also promoted. That means I brought along my chair to the next grade for there's no available chair for me. But now, chairs and armed chairs are aplenty. Every school year, the school is supplied by new chairs procured by the Division office. Have you experienced in going to school bringing your own chair? image credits to the owner (ctto)

I never experienced that. I am grateful that there were enough chairs during my time

You're lucky. You had never experienced the hardship of going to school with chair to sit on.

There were enough chairs when I was in elementary school and in high school. At university some us had to sit on the floor. The last people who arrived didn't get chairs, so I always tried to arrive early.

@Sreekala We're not carryimg our chairs. We stay in one classroom. Since there's no enough chairs, those who don't have chairs have to bring their own chairs in the room.

I did not have such an experience, but it's wonderful that your father made a chair for you.

I'm glad you could bring your own chair and not sit on the floor. No, there were always enough chairs and desks to go around.
