My Uncle Jack, Yes He Came Back...

Would that this peace would last forever Would that it would bring us all together For this day could be any other day Outside its quite peaceful right now and calm Across the Ocean in my land Across the Ocean they remember those that never got back home That includes many other places too Spread across the Globe In Normandy a lot of things took place A Battle of battles who was to win or who was to lose? This is not about who was wrong or right Its about those that willingly or unwillingly had to go and fight To fight for a freedom that they might never get to see Because of them we are here now I remember them just for a moment in time Right from the heart of Glasgow and Liverpool to the heart of the West Midlands All was tied in to get the freedom back One of them who was in that Battle was my Uncle Jack. All my own words and its to do with the Battle of Normandy again its about the ones who were there the very men that probably could have written these words instead of me.

Too many young men lost their life and this only because of only one mad man. Let's hope that this will teach something to the actual and future generations. Hate, racism, thirst of power only cause serious problems.

Its what I have tried to say but without saying exactly what if you see what I mean its a bit strong to state here sometimes but my Uncle Jack got back, back home and he told me lots of times about those around him in the sea that did not bullets flying all around him I was in awe of his stories.

@lovinangelsinstead21 - It is so sad that so many young men lost their lives, but it was also hard on the young men who survived, but saw so many horrible, scary things. War is terrible!

I think any kind of war is terrible for all men of all ages and not forgetting the women and the children who also paid a very high price too. They were brought up without their Dad for a long time then had to learn to get used to him if he was lucky enough to get home that is.

@DeborahDiane Even after the war there was still a sensation of unease that things would never be the same again.

@lovinangelsinstead21 - Yes, it is easy to forget about the effect war has on the wives and children, but they make a huge sacrifice, too. I agree that war is terrible for everyone involved.

I'm glad Uncle Jack came back. So many other young men lost their lives. Very sad.

Some of them were so very young but not even the older men had any experience of what and how to do either. From Glasgow and Liverpool and Wolverhampton right down to London there was a whole regiment of organization including Americans who stayed there planning the whole thing from top to bottom. All thanks to them they all played a part in setting us free again.

@simone10 This town took a lot of damage sustained by the bombers and so we were glad to be free of them.
