Apparently raccoons love my garbage...

I know that if I ever leave the garbage bag outside without placing it in the garbage can that it will get torn up by raccoons before sanitation picks it up.
It's happened to me a bunch of times and I had to sweep it up. Now I always leave it in the garbage can. Thing is that those suckers still manage to tear apart the garbage bag.
I went outside today to see if the garbage was picked up only to find it's still in the garbage can but the bag is all torn up.
I want them to leave my garbage alone! Can't they find someone else's garbage to mess with?

Well, at least they are not inside my house. Though seems they do venture into my backyard sometimes.

They're cute little bandits but they sure can cause a lot of problems. Sorry about your garbage.

As long as they don't leave a huge mess near my house and don't do anything in my backyard I am okay.

@lovebuglena We had raccoons in the attic once. You DEFINITELY don't want that.

@LindaOHio Nope. I don't even know if we have a real attic. At least I see no entrance to one.

the only way we ever stopped them was putting a cinder block on the lid.

There is a good chance that the raccoons are getting into other people's garbage.

Maybe that is true but I don't go checking other people's garbage so don't know if they go inside their cans or not. But the neighbor across the street had some bags on the ground recently 'cause his garbage can was full and raccoons did have a field day with them.
