i saw a flyer for a spa near me, so i checked out the services and prices.
at the back of the flyer, i was surprised to see the kiddie package.
spa services listed were:
kiddie manicure
kiddie pedicure
kiddie footspa
kiddie massage
i usually go to spas for body massages.
i've heard about this, but haven't witnessed personally.
what do you think of those services for kids?
what age would be appropriate?

I hope it won't spoil those kids and at least have that time every once a month or something.

gives a different meaning to the word 'pampering'.
also, if it starts at a young age, when does the child start paying for it when they feel like having it?

@hereandthere that'd not be 'pamperin'', that'd be jest plum ridiculous. if'n they wish to've'n 'mpact'n their young'uns life, they ought to take 'em with 'em to help the community - feed the poor, wash a homeless persons feet, etc. ugh. don't gimme started, lol.

You reminded me of my time working in a spa in Ireland. There was a booked spa treatment for a daughters birthday. All the friends of that birthday child were invited to have a spa treatment in our spa. They were girls from 7 to 12 years. We give them a massage, manicure and pedicure. It was fun for the girls and of course for us, too. It was a great birthday celebration for the kids.

@hereandthere a gentle body massage, a foot massage or a Champissage. Nope, just clean the hands and feet, cut the nails and paint. No getting of cuticles. Just a simple manicure and pedicure treatments fit for small kids.

@hereandthere But for girls, hair cut is very common and costly too.

@Sreekala hair cuts would be done at a salon. this was a flyer of a spa and the services listed for kids were: manicure, pedicure, footspa and massage.

You will not believe that my daughter went to a friend's birthday party (I think it was for 10 years old) at a place that specialized in birthday parties with this theme. My daughter isn't girly-girl - so she and I thought this was completely silly - but the other guests and parents thought it was fantastic. I know many moms who pamper themselves this way, so I see Facebook photos of them taking their daughters to join in too . . . mani, pedi, but I don't think massages.

@hereandthere Here, kids grow up too fast. I don't like that some parents encourage this stuff - they think it's cute that their little daughters (I've even seen toddlers) are getting pampered at the salons/spas. I don't even do this stuff for myself - I suppose I have influence on my daughter's opinions about it too (she too doesn't care for it) - just as my mother never did it either. My dad would have said if I had wanted such a service, I should get a job and pay for it myself . . . that's what he said when I was a teen wanting to wear make up

i thought it's too young, too. 13 and up, maybe as a treat for a special occasion/milestone. but preferably 16 and up.

I think a pedicure is appropriate but the rest I am not so sure.

thankfully, according to thelma, the treatments are adjusted for kids, like "gentle body massage, a foot massage, just clean the hands and feet, cut the nails and paint. No getting of cuticles. Just a simple manicure and pedicure treatments fit for small kids."
