Best Friends Day 1949 - George Orwell's 1984 was published. 1918 - Robert Preston was born. He was an American actor and singer. His best-known movie was (1957) The Music Man, (1962) How the West Was Won (1982) Victor/Victoria, (1984) The Last Starfighter. He appeared in many, many movies and won numerous awards. He died in 1987 of lung cancer. 1933 - Joan Rivers (Joan Alexandra Molinsky) was born. She was an American comedian, actress, writer, producer and television host. She was brought to the public eye in 1965 when she was a guest on The Tonight Show. 1989-1993 - The Joan Rivers Show. In 2009 She won Celebrity Apprentice, 2011-2014 Fashion Police. In 2017 Rolling Stone Magazine ranked her #6 in the 50 Best Stand-up Comics of All Time. That same year she was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame.
