The garage sale went....ok....

Perth, Australia
June 9, 2019 6:26am CST
I had my garage sale yesterday. I didn't make much or get rid of an amount that I hoped as I had to shut it all down way earlier than I wanted to. I looked up the weather here a little over a week in advance to see what it would be like. From what I understood, it was apparently going to be sunny. It was sunny for a little bit but as it got to about 1pm it started to rain and get very windy so that would have stopped people from coming out. Not only that, the wind was so strong it was knocking things over including the porcelain dolls I'm trying to sell. Luckily nothing in the sale got damaged but some of our fence snapped off last night. So had to close it all down and bring everything back in. I made a very small amount but it's ok. I made some money and got rid of some things. I will just hold off doing a garage sale until it hits warmer weather but will continue to try selling online.

Is that bike is also for sale? I just feel sad that after you prepare for it, you just need to close it earlier than expected

@tech40 It was. My dad has had mixed feelings about it. It wasn't a cheap bike but he didn't know what to do with it as it's only taking up space right now. And he can't ride a bike right now anyway due to his foot. But yeah, he is still deciding right now. aw thank you! I am a bit bummed that the weather ruined it but to be honest, also a bit glad. As I was up all night two nights before the sale, and then had about 2 hours sleep the night before the sale so I was almost running on empty.

@hereandthere Nah not yet. Not sure if I will try any time soon as my dad is still undecided on selling it.

Why not sell it online too Dani, for sure your friends online will see it and will buy them.

@JustBhem It really can be a lot of fun. Especially when profit is being made. What was it that you sold?

I'm waiting for some bad weather now. It's supposed to be rain and thunder now, and it's just warm and dry. It's been warnings for days so it's no surprise, it's just annoying that it never comes! Too bad your sale got interrupted! I imagine that selling porcelain dolls online will require a lot of packing and wrapping to make sure they ship safely?

@VivaLaDani13 The rain came, at last! No thunder though, I thought I'd try to take a picture of the lightning. I've only sold stamps, postcard and comics online, they're easy to send. My mother gave me some old china, I've no use for it so I should sell it but packing it is a bit of nightmare. I might try "pick up only" first

@VivaLaDani13 It seems we're only getting the boring weather here, a bit of rain. none of the thunderstorms and wind and rain they've "promised". They might be further inland. I'm thinking about selling/giving away several things this summer. I need to declutter! I met two ladies once (the cousins of someone my mother studied with) who were really good at picking up things cheap and then selling them online. They'd go on holiday, spend at least one day at some fleamarket, buy stuff and sell it online, mainly on Norwegian website. Thus paying for their next holiday!

@Torunn YAY! I love rain. It's raining right now here too. Oh if you manage to capture the lightning, I would love to see it! I mean, that's if you wish to share. I love seeing photos like that. Nice! I wish I had some good stuff like that to sell. I love trying to sell things. Since I don't have a job right now, I try to find ways to get money. One way is I buy things for cheap and try to flip them for a little more. I can definitely understand how you feel about packing old china! People have wanted me to ship out fragile things but I just can't. Too stressful! I honestly wish you the best on trying out the "pick up only" method!

Weather forecast at times can be misleading. Better to wait for warmer days for a garage sale. Glad that nothing for sale was damaged in the wind.

@arunima25 Oh I agree. I often look up the weather but take it with a grain of salt as it can be a bit different than what is said. Like last night we were going to have a storm but only had two rolls of thunder. Thank you for your comment.

Garage sale and selling online are good money-earning business of disposing used clothings, books, toys, among others. We don't have garage rumage sale here, but every Saturday, our market day, you can ambulant used clothings seller around the market place.

@VivaLaDani13 It's a very lucrative business here, selling used things for a reasonable, affordable price and at the same getting rid of used things to declutter your home and have more space.

@VivaLaDani13 I am sorry that the weather cut you out of your time to sell. I do not depend on the weather reports here because they are usually wrong in their predictions. I do not know if yours is accurate. I hope you will be able to do it again and the weather will be fine. It looks well prepared. I like how you have the clothes. Great idea. The wind is not very friendly.

@Hannihar Our weather reports sounds like yours. Not always accurate. Taken with a grain of salt. I will be doing it again when the weather is much better. And thank you kindly. I prepared it days before it took place and planned out where everything would go so I wasn't stressing out in the morning.
