Diary Monday 3rd To Sunday 9th June 2019

A week of quiet days and busy ones. Job searching is usually quite a mechanical routine process, involving the same career websites being checked daily. It can be tedious and take hours. I have to do it daily. The Monday and Wednesday didn’t involve much else. Tuesday 4th June was an opportunity for voluntary work, talking to social work students at the university about my years in a cult and the slow painful recovery process after breaking free in 1985. Thursday 6th June 2019 saw me return to the university for help in a discussion of the volunteer group recruitment publicity literature, which is due for an overhaul. Friday 7th June was a day of getting things ready for Saturday’s visit to Manchester and preparing birthday cards for two people I’d be seeing. Saturday 8th June I got up at 6am as I had to get to the city centre (Preston) for an early coach to Manchester. The journey went well, and I headed to m Mum’s for my first visit to her since February. As it is her 79th birthday in a few days I left her a card and some books as a present. I returned to Manchester city centre and took a few pub sign photos but it was cold and raining which slowed me down. I then joined friends for a Chinese Meal and beer to help celebrate a friend’s 60th birthday before returning by coach to Preston. The coach was running nearly half an hour late. Sunday 9th June was a relaxed day, more job searching and catching up on laundry, etc. Arthur Chappell
