My knees, feet, and back are telling me I’m getting too old for this. And you know what I tell them? “Shaddup.” I had a blast at the golf tournaments over the weekend. Played very poorly in the rain on Sunday, but managed to land in a cash spot for both tourneys on Saturday. Best of all is the wonderful people I get to play with. That’s better than any trophy or cash spot. I’ll chat more about that later. Here’s the song with “radio” in the title that I didn’t post yesterday because of my knees, feet, and back telling me I was too old.
#4: Radio Radio - Elvis Costello
Ah, where’s John when you need him to comment “oh, what a surprise.” Yeah,, no surprise at all. In fact, there’s no surprise for any of the remaining “radio” songs, from favorite acts to the “obvious” 80s song (that’s already been guessed a couple of times).
But for now, let’s talk Elvis. Costello, that is. This song has only become more accurate over the past 40 years: “the radio is in the hands of such a lot of fools trying to anesthetize the way that you feel.”
When Costello was on SNL in 1978 he said he wanted to do this song. The SNL producers told him NO. So, he started singing “Less Than Zero,” then stopped the band and launched into “Radio Radio.” He wasn’t allowed back on SNL for a long time after that.
Apparently TV is also in the hands of such a lot of fools trying to anesthetize the way that you feel.
You go, Elvis.

Elvis did his own thing on SNL? Wow, brings back memories of The Rolling Stones and The Doors on the Ed Sullivan show. Ed was not pleased with the performers not following the script

Elvis didn’t return to SNL for the remainder of the century, so the SNL people weren’t happy, either.

@FourWalls He always struck me as a arrogant guy in his younger years. Maybe his marriage to that pretty Jazz artist calmed him down.

Not a surprise but no complaints here.
