Skateboarders Damaged the New Fountain....

Back in the Fall our town square started getting remodeled in a "beautification" project. There was so much work they had to split it up into two different parts....which they are supposed to finish by the time the 4th of July festivities start.
Well....just recently, some skateboarders damaged the new fountain that was put up -- apparently causing thousands of dollars worth of damage.
I was looking forward to sharing a photo of the fountain once they were done with the remodel.
In response to that....the city is banning skateboarders from the town square from now on.
It's so sad to see that the city was doing amazing things to make it a much nicer place and people have to go and disrespect it with causing damage!

I think that's terrible. I feel sorry for the skateboarders that respect the areas they use and who are now no longer able to use the town park as a skateboarding arena. I feel as if the ones responsible should be made to pay.

At least they didn't ban it completely in the city! But it is banned there and the historical area now. I agree that those responsible should pay, that's only fair! I read they also spray painted some things, and were hanging off the arch on the veteran's memorial

@ScribbledAdNauseum It is for sure, and I am glad they banned it too. We don't have a designated skate park, but they can skate in other parks....just not this one.

The news article actually did not mention about that, but I think they should. But yes, that is so true....only one bad one to ruin it for the rest!

Very sad....I went around the park though today and they did have the water fountain part of it going....so looks like the lights were the only things that were broken.

Yes, I am not surprised that it was skateboarders since they like to skate anywhere! Now they will be find if they are caught skateboarding there. Not sure how long it will...they broke some lights and stuff in the fountain.
