It's a scorcher today! / myLot

I finally caved and turned on the A/C when we got home a few minutes ago. It's oppressively hot outside right now. The thermometer said it was 106F when I went to pick up the kids. I took a couple boxes of ice pops with me when I picked them up. There's an ice cream truck that parks nearby when classes let out and the kids always want to get something from there, but at $2.50 and up for an ice cream treat? I can buy a box of 12 for less than that. They and their friends were thrilled to see me with my big insulated bag of frozen treats.

I'm glad I cooked a meatloaf a few days ago when the temperatures were a lot lower. Now I can avoid turning on the stove for dinner! I do need to go through my collection of "too hot to cook" meals and figure out what to have for the rest of the week. I'm sure haystacks will make an appearance. How's the heat treating you today?

Sister did tell me thermometer says 108 or when she looked, cooling off a bit now.

@crossbones27 I'm guessing that my phone is getting its weather information from a different part of San Jose than where I live. We have so many microclimates around here that the weather can vary widely. For example, one friend who lives only 40 minutes away is using her oven and wearing a sweater today because the marine layer is keeping the temps there in the 60s.

oh my gosh, I try to wit until July, but whew I would have turned it on too. That is miserable. It has been sooo nice her this week, lots of rain and temps only got to lowers 90's

@spiderdust that is what I usually do, at 78-80. We have better things to do with our money than give it to the power co. I set a budget and try hard to keep everything within it.

I at least wait until the temps reach a certain level before turning it on. Today was that day, and I still have it set to 78F.

Wow that is just too hot. Stay safe in that heat. We finally got rain after weeks of 90 degrees. Today has been in the 70s, very nice but 90s are coming back the weekend.

Tomorrow's supposed to be a little cooler at 93F, but the kids have their Outdoor Olympics Day. I'm worried about them in that heat.
