Suppose you have no car, would you travel by bus or train?

Traveling is interesting, especially when you are away on holiday. To me, I'd rather go by bus if by train is not possible. In my country, some areas are only reachable either by train or bus. Traveling by train is more comfortable. I mean when you get tired sitting for many hours, you can just walk around. For a longer distance, traveling by train is better.
Recently I've traveled a lot by bus, especially after I reach the destination seaport in my home town. No train service from the seaport.
Have you traveled a long distance? How did you go?

If it's a short distance I might walk or cycle or take a taxi. If it's a longer journey, I'd have to use public transport, of course. Coaches are cheaper but slower. Rail is faster but much more expensive. Which I would choose would depend on the speed and comfort required and whether there were, indeed, a service at all which was convenient.

When I was in London, I did a lot of walks for short distances. For longer distances I would take tube or bus.

I cannot afford air trips. Especially in peak season.

@yanzalong Yes, it is. However, we always have a car available here.

Is it because only a few people live there?

@yanzalong No. We have a decent population. They've been talking for years about bringing Amtrack here, but so far the closest is Milwaukee. We can take buses to other long distance communities, but most people prefer to drive.

@just4him Some people in our country can afford to buy cars while others have to make do with motorcycles.

I do not have a car. I walk most places I go or take the bus. There are times when I need to find a ride, if the bus doesn't go where I need to.

@yanzalong I think you get to enjoy the world more when you are walking anyway. Most people are too busy to realize the beauty of the world.

@yanzalong yes.especially when you are traveling to a place you haven't visited before, you need to travel by train to get a great view and nature of that places.

I find traveling my train a lot more enjoyable and comfortable than traveling by bus. To go to Bristol the train can be there in 20 minutes and the bus can take one hour. A train doesn't get stuck in traffic like a bus can. If I wish to walk around a train that is possible. On a bus I must remain in my seat. It is lovely and comfortable to sleep in a night sleeping carriage. Then it saves me a nights accommodation cost and I have a relaxing time. The train motion makes me go off to sleep. By comparison it is uncomfortable to sleep sitting up in a bus seat. I have recently come home from a European Inter Rail Trip.
