Inviting yourself

This always bothers me when people just invite themselves to your things or what you plan to be doing. Here it is Friday one of the few days I don’t have to babysit my nephew and my sister in law asks me what I’m doing today. I answered back with Was going to take them to the park but I can’t since I have to wait for the UPS guy to come. Then she asked me what time. Hmmm you thing Was would get through its pastence as I was going to but not anymore. So then I get back ok. Let me know when you go to the park because I was going to have him do his reading and stuff. UM I did not invite her or my nephew. Really is there a day when I’m not free that she can’t take care of her own child on her own and pick something to do. I would like to do things with my kids with other inviting themselves along. I’m kind of thing of taking them and not tell her because since she insists inviting herself without asking first if it’s okay.

Yes, just go and if you don't want to tell her that you just wanted sometime with your own kids alone, you could always just use the oh, I totally forgot to let you know, sorry about that.

@ShyBear88 Yea, those are options too. Personally I would tell her if she asks that I decided to go with my kids alone cause I always watch your kid.

Neither is okay to me. Inviting yourself, or going without saying. If you cant ask if you can go, then you dont go. And if you dont want someone to join, speak up. Otherwise theyll never know. And theyll think they arent doing anything wrong.

She always invites herself even if I say we are doing it as a family. Half the time I do say what time I’m going places because she is one of those people that won’t do something with her child unless she really wants to other wise she does a tag along. I don’t mind spending time with them but not every day off. Then she complains that work doesn’t give her enough to spend with him but she doesn’t want to spend it with him. So it’s a double ended sword not matter what I say she acts like I’ve hurt her feelings or something. This time before I could text her we can’t go she texted me saying they are going to the movies

You don't need to feel guilty about going to the park without notifying them. You are under no obligation to respond to someone who has invited themselves without your permission. If you want to go to the park without them, then that's your prerogative! Don't let other people guilt-trip you into doing something you don't want to do.

Far from guilty irritated that every single time I have a day off she has to ask or interrupt. I really should stop answering my darn text from her unless it’s important. Oh good now I’m getting text saying they are going to the movies. Yay they will leave me alone.

@ShyBear88 Why doesn't she want to take care of him?

Because she is lazy and doesn’t like doing it on her own unless she tags a long with me
