* Is Sugar for Vegan? *

United States
June 15, 2019 8:01pm CST
My husband and I ran into this argument. I was supporting that few manufacturers use cattle bone for refining or whitening the sugar? I get lost when I browse any article related to it. What's your opinion, buddy? Do you consider Sugar for Vegan? Just share your thoughts.. I hope all are doing great and enjoying the weekend to the fullest... Any exciting plans for the weekend? Use cane sugar to be sure, it does not need to be "refined". Here the sugar is refined using granular carbon, which does not contain animal products.

Just as gelatin is not a veg item you could be right about refined sugar. It does not bother me though as I am a pure non vegetarian (lol)

My opinion is that whatever sugar is, it is not healthy for us and we should use very little if any. My opinion!

Thanks for your valid concern.. That's very true that we have to reduce the intake..

Haha! It was like one, as he wasn't accepting the fact that there could be no usage of bone in the cleansing process. Yes, but, our other friends helped me to get some idea on it.

Hmm.. It is kind of mixed. I believe, there are two variants. One side, they don't use any bone char for refining while the other includes the same in the process.

The refined sugar manufactured usually involves the bone char filter process.

Until I read your post, I had no idea bone char was used in making sugar white. Raw sugar - the naturally brown sugar, would be Vegan, but most commercially available white sugar may not be.

Oh.. thanks for any input here. Even I did not know this until recently.. I was informed about this by a taxi driver in my country, when we were discussing about vegans, Vegetarianism etc..

My new daughter-in-law is a strict vegan. Any sugar is NOT allowed. They are all made with bone char. You are right and win the argument!
