I thought you might like to hear what some well known folks had to say about the South. Keep reading if you are interested.
It is time to eat. Here is supper. Black eyed peas with Ham Hock.....Fried Okra....Country corn bread....Sweet Potato Pie.....You talk about supping with the Gods. You've just done it, for who but a god could have come up with the divine fact of okra. :James Dickey
It took a special breed of man to make moonshine or fly it over the treacherous back roads into Chattanooga and Atlanta with cops on his tail. Southern style stock car racing had as its earliest heroes old boys from the hills, uneducated and daring and in possession of damned good automobiles. :Paul Hemphill
Anybody who wants to learn about the South should get to know her women. They are tough, loving, frail, and powerful. They hold so many of our secrets. :James Dickey
You think I don't have culture just because I'm from down in Georgia. Believe me, we got culture. We've always had sushi. We just used to call it "bait." :Congressman Ben Jones
In Southern English, "naked" means you ain't got no clothes on, while "nekkid" means you ain't got no clothes on and you are up to something. :Lewis Grizzard
"Y'all" down South is, in truth, the essence of courtesy. We never use it to mean "you" unless we are kidding. We may use it to one person but he understands that we mean it in the plural, that we are inviting him and all his kin and friends. This subtle heart-outreach eludes our critics.
:Oren Arnold

This Southern gentleman concurs with everything you wrote. I'm not sure anyone that is not from the South would understand.

Unfortunately, I see alot of those traditions falling by the wayside. So many "Yankees" like myself have moved South that it is quite different now in many places especially the cities.
