The Card was trapped inside the ATM machine.

One day my wife withdrew a little money from ATM next to shop. She did not remember whether it was trapped or not. She went out of the booth with the money but without her ATM card. She searched in her bag but could find it. So, she returned to the ATM booth but someone was already using the machine. When she was finished my ask if she saw the card on the deposit slot. She said she didn't. We didn't trust the woman, so I suggested my wife phone the call center to block the card in case it would be used by the woman.

That is different. In our country we get the money then we press the button to get the card out.

@yanzalong This is not a safe way, because you risk to forget the card. We are asked to remove the card first and then we can get the money.

It happened to me once. As at that time I was thinking about something and therefore I forogot to take out my ATM card. Fortunately I didn't lose anything. Now such kind of thing will hardly happen to me again. As today I tend to pay by phone and I don't even bring my wallet outside. I don't need cash and cards any more.

@yanzalong Here Wechat payment and Alipay are quite popular. I just need to take out the phone and scan the barcode by the apps. Then everything will be done.

I had a similar experience once. A man cold called me and ask for my bank details, saying that he could send me a new card. He said that my old card cannot be used anymore when the expiry date was still not even close. I rejected that immediately because it smelled of scam through and through..

YES, 7 years ago, when I was staying Delhi, my ATM was swallowed by machine and never return, later I need to write to bank to obtain new one

A friend of mine had a similar experience while we were out of town. Luckily, I had brought extra money in case of an emergency and was able to loan it to her since she couldn’t get her card back.
