Northern Lights/Aurora Borealis

Another phenomenon we witnessed while living on the lake, in addition to the waterspouts, were the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis. Auroras are the result of disturbances in the magnetosphere caused by solar wind. The full description of the cause of the Northern Lights is extremely technical and involved. It's very rare to see the Northern Lights at our latitude (Ohio). They are usually viewed much farther north or south around the Arctic and Antarctic. This spectacle is also known as the Southern Lights or Polar Lights. We only saw the Northern Lights once; but it was quite a sight to see. Photo Credit: Pixabay

The only chance I get to see the Northern Lights is on a television show. I live in Arkansas.
