A Russian food store started charging for pickle brine

One of the Russian grocery stores that I shop at has many locations. Apparently, one of them started charging for the pickle brine. The price is 50 cents/lb. Someone posted a picture of the sign in a Facebook cooking group and that's how I found out. I've not seen this in the location near my house. I wonder if this is for those that just want to get brine for themselves or for those that buy the pickles and take some brine in another container to later add to the pickles so they don't have to pay for it? I guess it's okay if it is for those that just want some brine. But to charge those people that actually buy pickles and just take some brine in a different container to add to them later is wrong. Why should we pay for the liquid, especially when it's not even that great for consumption? Now I noticed, that they have containers for sale that already have the pickles and the brine. Wonder if they weigh the pickles first and then add the brine or they weigh with the brine already inside it, which of course increases the price.

I don't know. Maybe someone asked for the brine one day; and they figured it was another way to make some money.

I was shocked when I found out about this. I hope my location doesn't start charging for the brine.

It may be only 50 cents/lb but it is still money and I'd rather spend that money on something else than waste it on something I will just pour into the drain.
