This actually isn't as funny as it looks because this happens to me all the time. It's called getting old! I sometimes forget the name of a simple, everyday item. I can write articles and reviews and manage to make sense to the reader; but put a common item in front of me; and I can't always remember what it is. It's a "thingy"! Do you ever have this problem? Do you walk into a room and forget why you went there?

My beloved grandmother and mother were both lucid till the moments of their passing. Perhaps I would have the same. I actually want to remember the family and friends I love, the experiences I cherish, both joyful and sorrowful, the life, the world, the faces, the names. Yet, I also know that there must be a moment of surrender. That is the time when one leaves all into God's will. St. Ignatius of Loyola prayed for it - for God to take away his will, his mind, his memory. We sing this song often during Masses.
TAKE and RECEIVE (Prayer of St Ignatius Of Loyola) #IGNACIODELOYOLA Take and receive, O Lord, my liberty Take all my will, my mind, my memory All things I ho...

I had a hard time with this after my stoke. I would lay something down in the house and then spend 3 to 4 hours trying to find it again. It was so annoying. I also go into a room and forget what I came for or pick up something else, go back and sit down and say, "This is not why I went back to the bedroom."

It happens to me every day and take note that I am not that old. I am still on my thirties. My friend who is a doctor says that I may suffer from memory loss (may God forbid).

I can so relate. One thing I do that aggravates me is I get easily distracted and start something else before I finished the first thing.

@LindaOHio I just hate when I come upon a half finished task. Tell your husband I sympathize with him.

I reason things out with myself If I forget why I went into another room I ask myself what was I doing before I went there and why and so on and shortly the answer comes to me.

I believe we all will come to it. Many laugh at the seniors but a day comes when others will laugh at us.

More and more names of people and things are alluding me. Just part of the process. It is what it is. I remember one of my retiring co-workers who said at the end of his farewell speech, "I knew it was time to retire when I went down to my basement to get something only to remember I do not have a basement."
