Along the Riverbank (Part 2)

Norwich, England
June 23, 2019 4:57am CST
Shortly after we passed the wild rose growing in the hedgerow beside the River Bure in Norfolk, England, Adam spotted several blue damsel flies hovering over the reeds along the river's edge. He tried several times to take photos but they're so fast darting across the river, into the reeds and then off into the distance. You can tell the difference between dragonflies and damsel flies by their size - the dragonfly is larger and fatter - and also the damsel fly can fold its wings whereas the dragonfly always has its wings outstretched.

It can be really difficult to photograph insects on the wing. Taking photos of birds is nearly as hard.

I'm hoping that once Adam has finished off our new pond we may get some damsels settling on the water lily.
