He's either dead, suffering some sort of memory loss, or he went off to England

Of course, he was supposedly happy and about to be married. It's St. Paddy's day in 1984 and Mark along with a few of his lads are out joyriding. They are also drunk. Inevitably, they find themselves making contact with a tree. The crash is minor enough, and they sustain no visible injuries. Mark, perhaps for a laugh, gets back into the car and drives off, abandoning his friends. He was not heard from again. The nearby Howth Harbor is searched but the search turns up nothing. Did he sustain more of an injury than either he or his friends thought? Did he drive into the surrounding waters and has been submerged ever since? Or did he drive off to live a new life, either as the result of long term memory loss or out of desire for a new life?

@ScribbledAdNauseum He drove the car away from them, I do not believe they have something to do.

@LadyDuck That's also hearsay. The friends told the police that he drove the car away from them, but they could have been lying. I do believe it's more likely that they are telling the truth, especially if he had become concussed, but there's still the possibility that they are lying.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I wonder if there was a way to check if he really went away with the car.

If his alive then he's probably old, not really sure about that.

I hope he is alive and drove off in desire of a new life.

I hope so too, but I am not convinced that's the case. I'd rather think that he wasn't as happy as everyone thought he was and simply left to lead another life, perhaps in England.

I would like to think he, just like a cowboy rode off into the sunset and is living a very enjoyable like today.

I'd like to think the same, but I imagine he drove into the water. I'm not sure if him driving into the water (still intoxicated and perhaps disoriented from the earlier crash) would be better or the thought that his friends might have killed him. If he was intoxicated or disoriented I'd like to think he wasn't aware of his peril, but if his friends had killed him, well I'd imagine that'd sober someone up pretty quickly.
