Finally I finished it...

This work was pending more than a month. And today without delaying it much I finished. It is clumsy and time taking and I really need to get in mood to do it. And the work is making ghee( clatified butter) from all the cream that I collected from my milk over a month. This is monthly chore for me. I generally keep a day when I have not much to do. So I did it today without delaying it further. And I am happy with the product. You can see it in picture. I have got a little more than this half kilo bottle and it is good to go for one month. Ghee is used for most of the traditional Indian cooking and in some dishes the main aroma comes only because of this. My grandparents used only ghee for all their cooking. And they even promoted others to do so. I use other cooking oils like mustard and peanut oil along with ghee. But for few dishes it is exclusively ghee and no compromise with that So that's a big work accomplished today and I can say that morning has been productive How is at your end? Are you up to something productive today?

That's great you got enough ghee for the month. I've made it a few times, and yes, it's time-consuming to do so. My day - working on a book. I didn't do so this past weekend, so I really need to.

@arunima25 Yes, but I'm finding I like coconut oil better.

I got around 700 gm. The milk that I get is pretty good. It's straight from the cows. And if we store cream daily we get a good amount. My daughters sometimes spread the fresh cream on their slices or add to their lassi. In last month, I have used quite some malai for various preparation.

I use clarified butter for some dishes, most of the time I use olive oil. I made two loafs of bread yesterday, I sliced and it is now in the freezer, ready for the week.

It's not that difficult but yes little messy with all greasy hands and vessels at end to clean up. But the product is worth the effort and I don't mind the mess once in a month.

It is better to do it twice. That is my neighbor's aquarium. They are out of town for 4 days. They have just squeezed it in here. They have given instruction to feed the fish to my younger one. It will be gone by Friday.

Yes but not so time consuming. I got a very helpful video on YouTube and that was helpful. We get good amount of it. And the left over liquid gives a good yield of paneer too. But yes washing the greasy dishes post this is a mess.

That used to be a chore in our household for years which has just been given up as the cream we get from the milk is no good.

I think it's a common chore in most Indian households. Luckily we get very good milk straight from the cows here.

Sometimes we need those good slow days. Ghee is very common in Indian cooking. It's a very healthy fat and helps with bone and skin too.

It's better to do it twice a month. It is less tedious then. But I kept postponing it. I am okay with the smell. It turns good as more and more ghee comes out.

Home made product is always better than the purchasing one. And it will be more tastier and safe. But I don't use ghee for my own food.

Yes it is always. Especially the milk I get is from one uncle who has few cows. So I am sure of it's quality. I am using ghee for most of my cooking. Going back to our roots.

It's a lot of work but I am happy with the result. Ghee is pretty expensive in market. I get a good quality in good amount with a little effort. So it's worth it. Ghee adds special aroma to cooking.

Working online is not a waste of time unless you have spent all time online ignoring other things. It's okay once in a while unless we become addicted to it.
