Do you prefer sleeping with the lights on or off?

I understand that my roommate is doing an important project. But if she have to work late, I hope she would just turn off the lights and use a desk lamp instead. It's hard for me to get some sleep when the lights are on. Then I was going around a mall and saw this sleeping mask. I immediately bought one obviously! Now, I don't mind if my roommate will work late at night. I wonder, how many of you prefer sleeping in the dark like me?

What kind of light do you keep turned on? A bright light or a dim light?

@scarlet_woman That's good enough. You can turn your back from it and you'll sleep soundly.

I prefer to sleep in the dark. We have a loft bed and we didn't get new lamp yet, so we have to climb down in order to turn off the light. Sometimes we fall asleep while the light is still turned on.

That is bother. Having to go down just to turn the lights off. And you might hurt yourself going back to bed. It's a good thing you still get to sleep even when the lights are on.

@ichipink We want to buy a shelf and a small lamp. That way we will able to turn off the lamp without leaving the bed.

@Porcospino That's a good plan. And it won't be a hassle for you when you want to turn off the lights. I hope you get to buy one soon.

Of course off. I can´t sleep or it is hard for me to sleep when the lights are on. I am glad you have bought an eye cover for sleeping. I have that too but didn´t use it, yet.

You won't be needing it anyway since your surroundings is dark.

Hmmm I can sleep in both with the lights on and off. I prefer to sleep with the lights off when my sister will sleep here in my room and if she's not with me ofc I prefer to sleep with the lights on ha ha

@raveeen I can't blame you. I still feel that way sometimes. Especially after watching a horror movie.

I agree. Even when your eyes are close, it seems like you still see the brightness around you. And it's quite a bother.

Not too dark for me. At least there should be a dimly lit lamp on the corner.

i was about to ask if she did have a desk lamp or if you could gift her with one, but i'm glad you found a great solution. i assume she works quietly? keyboard tapping would disturb me.

It's not really quiet, but it's not loud enough to bother me from getting to sleep. Besides, I turn the music on to help me have a good sleep. But sometimes she moves too much that it wakes me up. I got the lower part of the bunk bed so her movements is like an earthquake for me sometimes.

I do too. Do you leave a dim/night light on? Or you prefer it completely dark?

@ichipink I am glad you found a mask but it is still unfair for your roommate to have all the lights on. The roommate could just use a desk lamp if she is studying or working at her desk. Electricity is very expensive.

I understand that she can't afford to buy one. That is why I just have to adjust with her.

The majority of people sleeps in the dark - or do you see all lights on inside houses when you walk through the streets after midnight?

Some people sleep without bothering to turn off the light. Or others even prefer sleeping while the TV (which is also a source of light) is still turned on. I also thought that others just turns the lights off to save electricity.
