Group Yoga and meditation....

I have been regular to yoga and meditation since more than a decade. But from last few months something or other delayed me and I could not go to the morning class that starts at 7. It is just downstairs and still I used to miss it.
But I followed the routine of Yoga at home.
From last two weeks, I have again started with these classes and I am so happy to be back there.
I some how feel that doing it in a group is more productive. I have a discipline to follow and looking at others is a big motivating factor.
The best part is doing the chanting followed by meditation in a group. It really makes be calm and I am so throughout the day.
So my new exercise regime includes one hour of yoga class each morning. My other exercise routine of cardio and weights have been shifted to evening. In my new routine I am missing my afternoon nap. This evening session makes me fight that lethargy and I am active again.
How about you? Do you enjoy exercising in group or alone?
Have a great time

Yes. Especially since I can not take a nap. Doing some exercise in evening helps to be active again.

I'm so happy for you.
I get reminded of those days when my cousin and I used to go for Yoga classes. I was so energetic and flexible. I wish I should start that again. I prefer in groups for the same points that you'd mentioned.

@arunima25 Yes, true! I should start it again. Infact my previous yoga teacher was kind enough to give me a slip of asanas that suits me. I mean - he taught us Surya Namaskar and he tweaked it a little bit based on my flexibility. He then told I'm quite flexible and gave a series of asanas that I can try in my home. I should really get started with that. Those were very powerful ones and my appetite increased and I has good taste buds. I was all fresh with clear mind .. I miss those..and I will definitely get onto it..
I might also check if we have any groups here too.

You can start it again. If you don't find a company or group, you can start alone. But I think that you must be having some yoga group in your neighborhood. You might have to explore. It's good for body and mind.

I too was a yoga fan once upon a time before my accident. I no longer can do yoga. I used to do 6 asanas starting from surya namaskar. I am not supposed to bend nor twist. But I do pranayama occasionally Having said that no problem doing the shavasana (lol)

Pranayam are really good and you can do them seating on chair. And I am an expert in shavasana

@arunima25 Doing in group surrounds the aura around us with the energies of all the people around us . In particular, meditation is encouraged to be performed in groups .

@arunima25 My wife has chronic disorders that showed almost every second day and she opted for yoga. She begun just from home and she could then cope up against such pains and muscle aches but as soon as she hit the group meditating regularly there was a skyhigh impact in all of her health, mood and energy levels .She is the one who told about the benefits of group.

@parpande I can totally vouch for that. I was always a healthy athletic person. I was a sportsperson throughout. But in my second delivery I got a haemohrrage. That is called post partum haemohrrage. It is rare and affects a few for unknown reasons. It is mostly fatal. But I survived after a month in ICU and luckily I was in US with all advanced medical care. But a part of my pituitary gland was damaged for life. That lead to all hormonal imbalances in body and I got diabetes in next year at age of 29. But with yoga, meditation, my regular exercise and diet I have been able to lead a normal healthy life. Yes I have to take medicines but my dose is very less. At 42, my bone strength and health is quite good. My doctor gives my example to others. I have got my second life and I really value it. Yoga is a big help for me and so I am regular with it.

Yes, that is right. Group meditation or mass prayers are more powerful. Especially when we all chant Om and Shanti mantra together, I can actually feel that positive energy penetrating me.

I have never been to any yoga session or exercise. It's good to be in group when doing physical exercise. My daughter is regular doing zumba aerobics with a group of people in our public plaza.
In my case, I do it alone. My routine exercise is a brisk walking.

Brisk walking is a good exercise. I like it if I have my husband or some friends as walking partner. I am okay to do it alone also. Aerobics is fun in group.

My cardio in gym and weight exercises I do it alone. But for yoga, cycling, jogging, swimming or walking etc I prefer a company. Last year in summer I joined aqua aerobics class in our swimming pool. It was for two months and we had so much fun.
I hope I continue with this. It is helping me a lot.

Well, I am a loner so I would prefer it alone. I do try to meditate from time to time but it is not a daily routine. I wish it was. I will have a longer vacation in July without the kids to get some rest and I hope this will involve meditation.
