Las Vegas Commercial Trooper Freeman since his first name was not mentioned was working with a joint venture with the Nevada State Patrol in Reno Nevada two weeks ago.
A stray male German Shepherd was seen in the area when he seemed to be scared of seeing many law enforcement officers in one area.
However the dog liked to be in the company of Office Freeman which would later become one reason this story will have a happy ending.
The German Shepherd was taken by animal control officers in Reno to be put down in a few days unless he would be adopted.
Thanks to a rescue group in Reno, they contacted Officer Freeman to inform him that the dog he saw at the checkpoint was going to be put down.
Officer Freeman then traveled from Las Vegas to Reno to adopt the German Shepherd. The dog was adopted by the trooper. His name is Chief and thanks to the efforts of the rescue group and the friendship with the state trooper, Chief will now spend his remaining days with the Freeman family in Las Vegas.

What I have learned about dogs is that they seem to know which person likes them when they want to be adopted.

That is true since it saddens me to read about dogs being put down before they get old.
