Walmart opened its first store, Walmart Discount City, in Rogers, Arkansas on July 2, 1962. The largest seller is about 1 billion pounds of bananas in all the stores around the world. That;s 311 stores in China known as Trust-Mart, 385 in United Kingdom known as Asda and in Costa Rica 133 named Pali.
Sam Walton bought a Ben Franklin store in Newport, Arkansas in 1945 and started the successful chain. The Walton brothers opened them in small towns and sold American merchandise undercutting the competition. Word wide there are 11,368 stores with 2.2 million employees. Sam Walton's daughter, Alice, is the worlds richest woman worth 38.2 billion as of 2017.
